A practical guide to FXMacroData's 13 Swedish krona series: who publishes them, when they are released in Stockholm time and UTC, a real September 2026 Riksbank decision from the API, and how EUR/SEK traders use the data.

This guide lists the Swedish krona series in the FXMacroData production catalogue: 13 series from the Riksbank and Statistics Sweden covering the repo rate, SWESTR, the government bond curve, CPIF inflation, GDP, the monthly labour force survey and the trade balance. It explains who publishes each, when it is released in Stockholm time and UTC, and how EUR/SEK and USD/SEK traders use the numbers.

**Quick answer**

**What is covered**

13 SEK series: the Riksbank policy rate, SWESTR, 2y, 5y, 7y and 10y government bond yields, CPIF inflation, quarterly GDP, unemployment, employment and participation, the trade balance and the krona trade-weighted index.

**Who publishes it**

Sveriges Riksbank (rates and yields) and Statistics Sweden, SCB (inflation, GDP, labour and trade), with the trade-weighted index from the BIS.

**Why it matters**

The krona is a small, open, cyclically sensitive currency. CPIF against the Riksbank's 2 per cent target, and the Riksbank's own rate path, drive most of the domestic story in EUR/SEK.

**Takeaway:**Sweden publishes CPIF and labour data monthly, so the gap between data and the Riksbank's published forecasts updates more often than in many other G10 economies.

## Who Publishes Swedish Data

**Sveriges Riksbank**, the world's oldest central bank, sets the policy rate with a 2 per cent target for CPIF, the consumer price index with a fixed interest rate, which strips out the direct effect of mortgage rate changes on measured inflation. The Riksbank also administers SWESTR, the Swedish krona short-term rate, and publishes daily government bond yields. Its Monetary Policy Reports include a forecast for the policy rate itself, which gives traders an explicit path to compare with market pricing.

**Statistics Sweden (SCB)**publishes the CPI and CPIF, the quarterly national accounts, the monthly Labour Force Survey (AKU) and foreign trade in goods. The krona trade-weighted index in the catalogue is the BIS nominal effective exchange rate.

FXMacroData stores each release with the period it describes (`date`) and the publication moment (`announcement_datetime`), and makes it available typically within seconds of official publication; see[release speed](/release-speed) for the measured record.

## SEK Indicators Covered

### Policy and short-term rates

- [Riksbank policy rate](/sweden/policy-rate) : every decision, holds included. It sets the krona's carry and anchors the front end of the Swedish curve.

- [SWESTR](/sweden/risk-free-rate) : the daily overnight reference rate based on actual transactions, which tracks the policy rate closely and is the benchmark for krona swaps.

### Government bond yields

- [2-year](/sweden/gov-bond-2y) ,[5-year](/sweden/gov-bond-5y) ,[7-year](/sweden/gov-bond-7y) and[10-year](/sweden/gov-bond-10y) yields: daily Riksbank data. The 2-year reflects expected Riksbank policy; its spread over the German 2-year is a standard EUR/SEK driver.

### Inflation

- [CPIF inflation](/sek/inflation) : the Riksbank's target variable, annual per cent change. Because CPIF holds mortgage rates fixed, it gives a cleaner picture of underlying price pressure than headline CPI when rates are changing.

### Growth

- [GDP](/sweden/gdp) : quarterly real GDP in SEK billions from SCB's national accounts. Sweden's export-heavy economy makes it sensitive to the European and global cycle.

### Labour market

- [Unemployment rate](/sweden/unemployment) ,[employment](/sweden/employment) and[participation rate](/sweden/participation-rate) : the monthly Labour Force Survey. Sweden's unemployment rate is high by Nordic standards, and its trend is a direct input into how long the Riksbank can keep rates low.

### External sector

- [Trade balance](/sweden/trade-balance) : monthly goods trade in SEK millions, a read on export demand from Europe.

- [Trade-weighted index (NEER)](/sweden/trade-weighted-index) : a broad measure of krona strength. The Riksbank watches the krona closely because a weak currency raises imported inflation.

The SEK catalogue is narrower than some G10 peers: it focuses on the rates, inflation, growth, labour and trade series that most directly drive the Riksbank, rather than on secondary activity surveys.

## SEK Release Timing

SCB publishes at 08:00 Stockholm time, and the Riksbank announces policy decisions at 09:30. Sweden observes Central European Time with daylight saving, so 08:00 is 06:00 UTC in summer (CEST) and 07:00 UTC in winter (CET).

## Worked Example: The September 2026 Riksbank Decision

At its September 2026 meeting the Riksbank left the policy rate unchanged at 1.75 per cent, where it has stood at every meeting recorded since November 2025. The request:

```
curl -H "X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEY" "https://api.fxmacrodata.com/v1/announcements/sek/policy_rate?start_date=2026-09-01"
```

The latest row returned (abridged to the fields used here):

```
{
  "currency": "SEK",
  "indicator": "policy_rate",
  "data": [
    {
      "date": "2026-09-24",
      "val": 1.75,
      "previous_value": 1.75,
      "previous_date": "2026-08-20",
      "announcement_datetime": 1790235000,
      "announcement_datetime_local": "2026-09-24T09:30:00+02:00"
    }
  ]
}
```

The epoch`1790235000`is 07:30 UTC on 24 September 2026, which is 09:30 local time (Europe/Stockholm) on 24 September 2026.

The row is a hold, and it is stored anyway. That matters for event studies: a "no change" decision that comes with a revised rate path can move EUR/SEK as much as a cut or hike, and a dataset that only records changes would miss it. The CPIF print released two weeks earlier, on 14 September, showed inflation at 0.7 per cent for August, unchanged from July and well below the 2 per cent target.

The daily series show how that decision transmits. SWESTR printed 1.65 per cent for 1 October 2026, 10 basis points under the 1.75 per cent policy rate, which is consistent with overnight money trading close to the Riksbank's deposit rate rather than at the policy rate itself. On 2 October the 2-year government bond yield stood at 2.66 per cent, well above both, so two-year money was priced above the current setting, through either expected policy or term premium. Comparing the three series in one chart is a quick way to see whether the market expects the next move to be up or down, and the same request pattern works for each: swap`policy_rate`for`risk_free_rate`or`gov_bond_2y`in the URL.

## How Traders Use SEK Data

- **CPIF against the 2 per cent target.**With CPIF at 0.7 per cent in August 2026, the market's question is whether the Riksbank needs to ease further. Each monthly CPIF print is compared with the Riksbank's own forecast, not just with the previous month.

- **The Swedish-German 2-year spread.**EUR/SEK tends to follow the gap between Swedish and German 2-year yields over weeks and months. The[EUR/SEK dashboard](/dashboard/EUR_SEK) plots it with price.

- **Unemployment as the second mandate signal.**Rising unemployment alongside low CPIF reinforces a dovish path; falling unemployment with low CPIF makes the Riksbank more patient.

- **Global cycle beta.**SEK is one of the most growth-sensitive G10 currencies. Traders often combine Swedish trade data with global risk sentiment, because the krona tends to weaken when European growth expectations fall.

- **Krona level and imported inflation.**The trade-weighted index shows whether a weak krona is pushing up import prices, which can keep the Riksbank from cutting even when domestic inflation is soft.
