Use FXMacroData in monday.com

The FXMacroData app for monday.com brings official macro, FX and central-bank data into your workflows and boards. Start a workflow the moment a release is published, keep a board in sync with an indicator, FX pair, commodity, release calendar or COT report, and chart the series in a board view.

What the app adds

FeatureTypeWhat it does
When FXMacroData publishes a releaseWorkflow triggerStarts a workflow when a release for the chosen currency and indicator is published. Pair it with monday's own blocks, such as Create item or Notify. Needs a subscription key.
Sync FXMacroData seriesWorkflow actionWrites an indicator, FX pair, commodity, release calendar or COT series into a board and keeps it current. Re-runs update revised values and never duplicate items.
Get latest FXMacroData valueWorkflow actionReturns the latest release of one series as fields for the next block.
FXMacroData chartsBoard viewCharts every series the sync wrote to the board, plus upcoming releases.

Free USD data

Without an API key, USD indicators, the USD release calendar and USD COT positioning are available for the last 90 days, with a 15-minute delay after each release.

Subscription data

Other currencies, FX rates, commodities, full history and release triggers need an API key from a subscription. Release triggers need a plan that includes webhook delivery.

Key handling

You enter your key once in the FXMacroData API key connection. Every request is made server-side with the key in the X-API-Key header; your browser never calls the FXMacroData API.

Connect your key

  1. Install the FXMacroData app in your monday.com account.
  2. The first time you add an FXMacroData block to a workflow, monday asks for a connection. Paste your FXMacroData API key from your account page. The key is optional for USD data.

Workflow trigger

Start a workflow when a release is published

  1. Create a workflow and choose the trigger When FXMacroData publishes a release.
  2. Pick a currency and an indicator, for example USD and inflation. Leave either empty to receive every release.
  3. Add monday's own blocks after it, for example Create item on your release board or Notify a teammate, and map the fields below into them.
  4. Turn the workflow on. The next matching release starts it.

When you turn the trigger on, the app creates an FXMacroData webhook subscription for it, and deletes it again when you turn the trigger off or uninstall the app. Each delivery is signature-checked and de-duplicated before it reaches your workflow.

Trigger fields

FieldType
Event ID, Record keyText. The record key is currency:indicator:period, stable per release.
Currency, Indicator, Indicator name, UnitText
Reference periodDate
Value, Previous value, ChangeNumber
DirectionText
Announced (UTC), Published (UTC)Text, ISO 8601 time in UTC
HeadlineText, for example a one-line summary of the release
Official source, Series pageLinks to the publisher's release page and the FXMacroData series page

Workflow action

Keep a board in sync with a series

  1. Create a workflow with a time-based trigger, for example every day.
  2. Add the action Sync FXMacroData series and choose the board, and optionally a group.
  3. Choose a dataset: indicator, FX pair, commodity, release calendar or COT positioning, then the currency, indicator, pair or commodity it needs.
  4. Optionally set a start date and the maximum rows to read per run.

Items are matched on an FXMD key text column, for example USD inflation 2026-08-31. Missing columns such as FXMD key, Date, Value, Previous, Change, Direction and Released (UTC) are created on the first run. Changed values are updated and unchanged items are left alone, so a retry or a re-run never duplicates items.

Each run reads up to 500 rows (100 by default) so it finishes inside monday's one-minute action limit. For a long backfill, set a start date and let several runs fill the board. The action returns the rows fetched, items created, updated and unchanged, and the latest record key.

Workflow action

Use the latest value in a workflow

Get latest FXMacroData value takes a currency and an indicator and returns the latest release as fields: record key, indicator name, reference period, value, previous value, change, direction, announcement time, headline and series page. Use them in the next block, for example to update a status column or write the value into an item update.

Board view

Chart the series on your board

Add the FXMacroData charts view to a board that the sync action writes to. It charts every series on the board and lists upcoming releases. The view reads only the board's own items.

Errors and limits

  • A missing key or subscription, or a board that no longer exists, turns the workflow off with a message explaining why.
  • Network errors and rate limits are retried by monday. Because the sync is idempotent, a retry never duplicates items.
  • The app needs read and write access to boards so it can create columns and items.
