Quick answer
In the Wix Editor, choose Add Elements (+), then Embed Code, then Embed HTML. Click Enter Code, paste the FXMacroData economic calendar snippet, and click Apply. Drag the element to about 40px taller than the widget so the attribution link under the calendar stays visible, then click Publish. The widget is free, needs no account or API key, and updates itself.
This guide shows how to put a live economic calendar on a Wix page using the free FXMacroData widget. By the end you will have a published calendar that lists upcoming macro releases for the currencies you choose, sized correctly on desktop and mobile, with no code beyond one pasted snippet.
Who this is for
Traders, analysts, educators, and signal or newsletter publishers who run a Wix site and are not developers.
What you will build
A live calendar of confirmed release times for your chosen currencies, placed in a page section and published to visitors.
Choose something else when
You host plain HTML or a React app: use the static site guide. For a paid or members-only product, see Commercial Redistribution.
See the Widget
The economic calendar widget this guide installs reads the same confirmed schedule as the FXMacroData release calendar, sourced from statistics offices and central banks, and it refreshes without any action from you.
Economic calendar widget for USD, EUR, and GBP. Change currencies, theme, and row count on the widget page.
Prerequisites
- A Wix site you can edit, opened in the Wix Editor or Wix Studio. The Embed HTML element is available on plans that allow custom code.
- A place on the page for the widget: a section or column at least 320px wide and roughly 600px tall for the default calendar.
- No FXMacroData account or API key. The widget is free on public pages as long as the attribution link under it stays visible.

Step 1: Choose the Widget and Options
Open the economic calendar widget page and set the options to match your audience. Deciding these first means you paste once and do not need to edit code inside Wix later. The full set of widgets, including a release countdown, policy rates, and an inflation heatmap, is in the widget gallery.
| Option | What it controls | Suggested value on Wix |
|---|---|---|
data-fxmd-currencies | Which currencies appear, as a comma list. 22 currencies are supported. | USD,EUR,GBP or the pairs you cover |
data-fxmd-theme | dark, light, transparent, or auto, which follows each visitor's light or dark preference. | light or auto on light Wix templates |
data-fxmd-limit | Number of rows, from 1 to 12. | 6 for a page section |
data-fxmd-importance | all, high, or medium. | high for a short, focused list |
data-fxmd-timezone | viewer shows each visitor's local time. The default is UTC. | viewer for a general audience |
data-fxmd-lang | Widget language: en, fr, es, pt, zh, ja, de, ar. | Match your site language |
data-fxmd-height | Widget height in pixels. | 560 for six rows |
Step 2: Copy the Snippet
Copy the snippet from the widget page, or use the one below. It is one placeholder div that holds your options and one script tag that loads the widget into it.
<div data-fxmd-widget-type="economic-calendar"
data-fxmd-currencies="USD,EUR,GBP"
data-fxmd-theme="light"
data-fxmd-limit="6"
data-fxmd-timezone="viewer"
data-fxmd-height="560"></div>
<script async src="https://fxmacrodata.com/static/js/fxmacrodata-widget.js"></script>
The loader fills the div with the calendar and adds one attribution link beneath it, for example "Economic calendar by FXMacroData". Keep both lines together and paste them unchanged.
Step 3: Add an Embed HTML Element in Wix
Wix places pasted code inside its own Embed HTML element. Adding that element first gives the snippet a box on the page that you can move and resize like any other element.
- In the Wix Editor, click Add Elements (+) on the left side.
- Click Embed Code, then Embed HTML. A blank box appears on the page.
- Click Enter Code on the box and keep the Code option selected.
- Paste the snippet from Step 2 into the code field.
- Click Apply. The calendar loads inside the box in the editor.
Wix Studio: the path is Add Elements, then Embed & Social, then Embed Code, then Embed HTML. The paste and Apply steps are the same.
Step 4: Size the Element
Wix renders pasted HTML inside its own sandboxed frame, so the Wix element does not resize itself to fit the widget. Set the size by hand: drag the element's handles until it is at least as tall as the widget plus about 40px. The extra space is for the attribution link under the calendar, which must not be cut off.
Widget height (data-fxmd-height) | Wix element height | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 400 | About 440px | Compact list in a narrow column |
| 480 | About 520px | Four to five rows beside text |
| 560 | About 600px | Default six-row calendar |
| 640 | About 680px | Longer list as the main feature of a section |
Make the element at least 320px wide. The widget always fills the full width of the Wix element, so widen the element rather than editing the snippet. If rows or the link are clipped at the bottom, increase the element height or lower data-fxmd-limit.
For layout, one or two widgets per page section reads better than many stacked boxes. A calendar beside a short paragraph of your own commentary is a good starting pattern.
Step 5: Set the Mobile Layout
Wix keeps a separate layout for phones, and the size you set on desktop does not carry over automatically. Switch to the mobile editor, select the Embed HTML element, and set its width and height again. On a phone the calendar usually needs the full section width and the same height rule as before: widget height plus about 40px.
Step 6: Publish and Check the Live Page
The widget shows in the editor preview, but visitors only see it after you click Publish. A widget that only exists in the editor is not live. After publishing, open your public site address in a normal browser tab and confirm three things:
- The calendar loads with the currencies you chose.
- The attribution link is fully visible under the calendar.
- The same is true on a phone, or in a narrow browser window.
Alternative: Embed a Site With a Direct URL
If you prefer not to paste code, Wix can also show a web address inside a frame. Choose Add Elements (+), then Embed Code, then Embed a Site, and paste the direct widget URL:
https://fxmacrodata.com/widgets/embed/economic-calendar?currencies=USD,EUR,GBP&theme=light&limit=6
In this mode the options go in the URL, and the widget carries its FXMacroData attribution inside the frame. Size the element the same way as in Step 4.
| Method | What you paste | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| Embed HTML (recommended) | The two-line snippet | You want every option, including visitor-local time and language, set in one place. |
| Embed a Site | The direct widget URL | You want the simplest possible setup, or code embeds are not available on your site. |
Troubleshooting
| What you see | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The widget works in the editor but not on the public site | The page has not been published since the widget was added. | Click Publish, then reload the public page. |
| The bottom rows or the attribution link are cut off | The Wix element is shorter than the widget. | Drag the element taller: widget height plus about 40px. |
| An empty box | Only part of the snippet was pasted, or the code was edited. | Click Enter Code again and paste both lines unchanged, then Update. |
| It looks right on desktop but squeezed on a phone | The mobile layout still has the default size. | Resize the element in the mobile editor and publish again. |
| A dark box on a light page | The theme option does not match the template. | Set data-fxmd-theme="light" or "auto". |
| Times look wrong for your readers | The widget is showing UTC, its default. | Add data-fxmd-timezone="viewer". |
Free Use and Attribution
The widget is free on public pages with no account and no API key. The condition is that the attribution link the loader adds under the widget stays visible, which is why Step 4 leaves room for it. The widget sets no cookies on your site by default.
If the calendar will sit inside a customer-facing or subscriber-only product, such as a paid members area or a client portal, that use needs the Commercial Redistribution add-on.
You can also add a second widget from the same family. A release countdown to a single event is a common partner for the calendar, for example a countdown to the next Non-Farm Payrolls report. Each Wix Embed HTML element is its own box, so paste the complete snippet into each one.

Summary
You added an Embed HTML element in Wix, pasted the two-line FXMacroData snippet, sized the element so the calendar and its attribution link are fully visible on desktop and mobile, and published the page. The calendar now updates on its own. A natural next step is to add a second widget, such as a release countdown or policy rates table, from the widget gallery, or to tune currencies and language for your audience on the widget page.
